The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is a regional paediatric care and teaching facility affiliated with the University of Ottawa Health Sciences Centre. Its mandate is to provide quality health services and foster on-going research in health related fields.

Established in 1984, the CHEO Research Institute coordinates the research activities of CHEO and is one of the institutes associated with the University of Ottawa Teaching Hospitals. The Research Institute brings together health professionals from within CHEO to share their efforts in solving paediatric health problems. It also promotes collaborative research outside the hospital, with partners in the immediate community, industry and the international scientific world.

The Research Institute laboratories allow clinicians and basic scientists to mesh the exciting discoveries of the laboratory with the Children's Hospital patient care programs.

The Research Institute has its own Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer.  There are 4 Sub-Committees in the Institute:  the Science Sub-Committee, the Membership Sub-Committee, the Space Sub-Committee and the Finance Sub-Committee. We also work directly with the Research Ethics Board, which reports directly to the Vice President of Research/Director, CHEO Research Institute, and the Board of Trustees through the Hospital Chief Executive Officer.
