Space Sub-Committee
The Space and Utilization Sub-Committee
reports to the Research Coordinating
Committee. Members of the Research Institute requiring
space for their research may apply to this sub-committee.
Revised Terms of Reference
- Eligible individuals submitting grants for funding (at
stage of science review) should complete a
Request
for Space Form and forward it to the CHEO Research Institute
Administration Office, Space and Utilization Committee.
This will aid in planning but will not indicate a commitment
for space. These Request for Space Applications can also
be submitted upon receipt of funding (see attached form).
Space requests will not be considered without
this application.
- Space should not be allocated solely on a departmental
basis.
- Rooms will only be allocated for funded projects for
Senior Investigator, Investigators and Associate Investigator
Members of the CHEO-RI, whose primary appointment is at
CHEO.
- Rooms will only be allocated for projects that receive
a minimum of 6 months funding with preference being given
to longer-term grants. It will be expected that space be
vacated, if required by other projects, normally within
2 months of termination of funding (longer periods of time
may be negotiated with the Space and Utilization Committee).
- Geographic full time CHEO staff who dedicate a minimum
of 60% of their time to research at CHEO, may apply for
an office (i.e. be single occupant).
- Due to shortage of space, the Space & Utilization
Sub-Committee is attempting to allocate dry lab space in
block assignments (50 sq. Ft. per 1 FTE) and group consolidation
has begun. It is understood that there will be a critical
mass of space allocated to accommodate each group’s
activities, wherever possible, as determined by the Space
and Utilization Sub-Committee, and it will be up to Head(s)
of such groups to incorporate increasing numbers of personnel
into assigned blocks. Consolidated blocked space will be
reviewed annually.
