The CHEO Research Institute offers a rich and vibrant learning environment for advancing skills and knowledge in the pediatric realm. In partnership with the University of Ottawa, our academic goals are to educate and train students in an environment that promotes a vigorous pursuit of research excellence.

Our trainees are actively involved across our 3 programs of research in a wide range of research practice areas working in both clinical and basic science.

Research at CHEO covers a full spectrum of pediatric topics, but is focused on those problems that significantly affect the health of our children, including cancer, diabetes, obesity, mental health, emergency medicine, musculoskeletal health, and genetic conditions, to name a few.

Life at the CHEO Research Institute

Over and above the pursuit of academic excellence, we provide many social engagements to foster networking and fun times. The CHEO Research Institute hosts annual BBQs, holiday parties, bi-weekly cafés, and more.

The CHEO Research Institute prides itself on providing trainees with great mentorship; access to a wide variety of state of the art technologies; and access to a wide range of research support services ranging from statistical analysis to mining for funding opportunities.
