Where does our research take place?
Healthier CHEO Kids research rarely occurs in a traditional laboratory. Our applied programme of research is based in facilities that are suitable for active children. Most commonly, we use gyms, pools and playgrounds in communities all over Ontario. We also do a lot of research where children play games, do arts and crafts, and have discussions about physical activity and playing with their friends. Occasionally our research involves assessments that require equipment found in our movement skill analysis and exercise lab. Basic science, working with microscopes, stem cells, animals, etc., is not currently part of the Healthier CHEO Kids research programme.
