Nurse researchers at CHEO are committed to high quality research aimed at improving care and outcomes for children and their families. Specialty areas of nursing research include: perinatal, maternal child, diabetes management, orthopedics, oncology, concussion and chronic and acute pain management. Health services research and knowledge synthesis and translation research is ongoing. In an effort to better understand and optimize the application of evidence-informed practice and research literacy of our front line nursing staff, we will be undertaking a survey of nurses’ research knowledge. Another area of research interest is the transfer of accountability during nursing shift to shift patient handover. Our investigators actively mentor undergraduate and graduate nursing students from the University of Ottawa, and from other Universities across Canada and internationally.
