Current Research:
Dr. Lemyre is involved in neonatal clinical trials, with particular interest in the lung (non-invasive ventilation, surfactant). She recently completed, as a principal investigator, the first randomized controlled trial comparing Bovine Lipid Extract Surfactant and poractant alpha, in preterm infants with respiratory distress. Over the last 15 years, Dr. Lemyre has authored several systematic reviews on non-invasive ventilation in preterm infants. Other research interests include therapeutic hypothermia for neonatal encephalopathy and shared decision making at the limit of viability.
Dr. Brigitte Lemyre received her medical degree in 1993 and completed her residency in pediatrics in 1997, both at the Université de Sherbrooke. She worked as a community pediatrician in Québec for 18 months before completing her subspecialty training in Neonatal-Perinatal medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton in 2000. Dr. Lemyre is a clinical investigator at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Research Institute and at The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. She is also an academic neonatologist at CHEO and The Ottawa Hospital - General Campus.
