Materials Transfer Agreement
On occasion, our research laboratories provide other investigators
with research material, developed in a Children’s Hospital
of Eastern Ontario Research Laboratory. It is common practice
in research laboratories to have the recipient sign a “materials
transfer agreement”. The purpose of this is to document
ownership of the material in the event that it should become
commercially valuable. This would be beneficial for the CHEO
Research Institute in regards to materials generated from
the endeavours of our Institute which may have the potential
of Intellectual Property proponent.
At the May 24, 2001 meeting of the Research Coordinating
Committee (RCC) the Materials Transfer Agreement Form (MTA)
below, was approved for use by the Children’s Hospital
of Eastern Ontario Researchers.
These MTA forms are available in the CHEO Research Institute
office and also from Ms. Jane Earle, Molecular Genetics Lab
Manager. Any questions/concerns regarding what constitutes
a material transfer can be addressed directly to Ms. Jane
Earle (738-3215).
