CHEO Research Institute Research Programs
Clinical Research
Message from Program Director, Dr. Martin Osmond
Martin H. Osmond, MD, CM, FRCPC
Director of Clinical Research
Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, University of Ottawa
The aim of the Clinical Research Unit is to support clinical research at
CHEO.
I believe that world class clinical research demands a high quality
research infrastructure. In May 2007 the new Clinical Research Unit
(CRU) was launched with the goal of providing an expert,
clinician-friendly, comprehensive clinical research infrastructure to
researchers at CHEO. The team, located in the CHEO Research Institute,
consists of statisticians, study coordinators, a health economist, a
database developer, data entry clerks, administrative assistants and a
Director of Operations.
Through surveys and focus groups, we have had the opportunity to learn
of the needs of clinical researchers at CHEO. It is clear that timely
access to a full range of expert research services is the greatest
priority for CHEO researchers. Also important is the communication of
these services, support for fellow and resident research projects, and
the provision of clinical research education.
In conclusion, I would like to thank all CHEO clinicians for their
support of the Clinical Research Unit. I am confident that you will find
the expertise you require for the successful completion of your research
project in the CRU.
